Living in service to Life.

November 2009

Realize

Here
The Eternal
Experiences time

I, the pot
Through which
Awareness flowers

You, the mirror
Through which
Truth reflects

Still
Here is
Only One

Eternity3

One is not free to separate
The self from the heartbeat
And still possess
Freedom

One is not free to separate
The self from the heartbeat
And still possess
Freedom

One is not free to separate
The self from the heartbeat
And still possess
Freedom

Lessons In Denim

Even though
My favorite jeans
From back in the day
Are a bit too small
I continue to wear them
Anyway

They used to feel great
But lately I’ve noticed
They bind and restrict
And evoke memories
Of who I used to be
Leading me to question:
How exactly did I end up here?

But I can’t seem to
Throw them away
Because it seems easier
To keep wearing them
Then it is
To get new ones

As they wear thin
I try to patch them
Hoping they will continue
Serving my needs
Well enough

If I don’t soon take steps
To learn the lessons
They hold for me
Eventually
They will fall apart
Leaving me standing naked
For all the world to see

In realizing all the ways
They’ve been
Compassionately uncomfortable
As I grew beyond my ideas
Of who I might one day be
I experience myself
As expansive Love
Shifting my concepts
Of their significance
And mine

I cannot make the jeans new
I can only transform
The person inside them
To one who is hopefully
As compassionate with others
As my favorite jeans
Have been with me

Persona Grata

This Life
Is not about you or me
Or even you and me
This Love
Is as intimately personal
As it is ultimately impersonal

There is only
One Life
And we
Are Its highest expression
In form
We are how It realizes
The depth and Truth
Of Itself as Love

When you feel pain
Know that it
Is your pain
And that its purpose
Is to lead Us home

Welcome it

When I express pain
Know that it
Has nothing to do with you
And that its purpose
Is to lead Us home

Welcome it

Only there can we meet
In the safeness of eternity
And directly experience
The depth and Truth
Of our Self as Love

Building Blocks

Breathe, Cry
Wet, Dry
Seemingly the start

Crawl, Walk
Stand, Talk
Stealing every heart

Learn, Grow
Yes, No
Pencil first, then pen

Dream, Strive
Still Alive
Now contains the “then”

Try, Fail
Try, Fail
Playing by the rules

Shed Past
Free At last
Coal contained the jewels

Whole, Peace
New Lease
Satiated thirst

Meet Death
Final Breath
Last contained the first
