Serving Life
It’s easy to bring enthusiasm
To new causes and ideals
But if it’s a mind-identified cause
Instead of a calling from the spirit
Then the enthusiasm won’t be sustained
The mind will get bored
The ego will just want to hurry and get done
The body will get weary
And frustration will set in
Because there’s always so much more to do
It’s not about changing the world
It’s about changing how you are in it
That’s what will lead automatically
To the big changes
Without any efforting at all
You know you’ve done something well
If you come away from the it
Energized instead of exhausted
And as you walk away
You don’t feel the need to survey
What “you” accomplished
Because if you did it well
It wasn’t you doing it at all
It was Life working through you
As you surrender to a task
You do more than just affect form
You transmute the energy
In and around it
And that cleansed energy
Lingers and touches
All who enter that space
Or interact with that object
It speaks to their spirit
And provides a glimpse
To the beauty beyond the form
And to the beauty that is inside of them
Before we can cure the ails of society
We each first have to move past our ego
And develop a clear connection to our spirit
In order to uncover the ultimate source
Of sustainable enthusiasm
That will carry us through
All the tasks and trials that lie ahead of us
We need to become fluid
So whatever presents itself to us
We can just reorganize ourselves around it
And act on it with love.
Ask. Listen. Know.
Through your mind
You can get locked in uncertainty
Of what to do next
Of which step to take
Of what’s the right thing
So many conflicting drivers
For what path your life might follow
But one general theme
Pervades each step
And if you can suspend your thoughts long enough
And ask sincerely enough
You may hear
The one driving force
That truly knows
And it would tell you
The way is through your heart
Synergistic Effect
Through surrendering your will to life
You can accomplish more
Than you ever could
Through sheer determination alone
There’s a synergy that occurs
When you surrender your will to life
That makes it possible
For you to achieve more
Than you ever imagined
Solely through strength of mind
Your mind has limitations
All those things you have learned
That you cannot do
Your body has limitations
That are compounded by the mind
That remind you of what you cannot do
Your spirit knows
Better than your mind or your body
What you are truly capable of
And if you can relinquish control
And allow it to guide you
You will stretch deeper
And reach further
And do more
Than you ever thought possible
Second Sight
If I couldn’t see anything
How much of this stuff around me
Would I need?
What makes it so important?
Having sight give us the illusion that we can see
When the reality is
It blinds us to the truth
Until we learn to see beyond the form.
